From 1976-2021: Apple enthusiast to showcase vintage collection at GITEX Glob<\/strong>al<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dubai, UAE: <\/strong>A <\/strong>collector of vintage Apple products, is showcasing 40 pieces from his private collection of rare Apple computers at GITEX 2021 from October 17-21, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jimmy Grewal, the curator of The AAPL Collection, will be bringing one of the most comprehensive and valuable collections of Apple computers in the world to GITEX Global.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope my collection inspires visitors by providing them historical context, no matter where they may be on their journey to better people\u2019s lives with technology.<\/p>Jimmy Grewal<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The exhibit, organised in partnership with Dubai World Trade Centre as part of the 41st<\/sup> edition of GITEX Global, demonstrates the thirty-year evolution of Apple\u2019s products from the original hand-assembled Apple Computer 1 all the way to the first iPhone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AAPL Collection, named after the company’s stock ticker symbol, documents the historic rise of Apple from a Silicon Valley startup to the technology powerhouse that sparked the smartphone revolution. This journey took over three decades and The AAPL Collection @ GITEX Global will include key Apple products from the period that illustrate the evolution from hobby computer to smartphone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors to The AAPL Collection @ GITEX Global can expect to see some of the rarest Apple products, including an original Apple-1 Computer from 1976. The Apple-1 was designed by co-founder Steve Wozniak and assembled by hand in Steve Jobs\u2019 parents\u2019 house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Only 175 Apple-1 computers were sold and fewer than 80 are still known to exist, with examples routinely fetching in excess of AED 1.5 million (USD $410,000) at auction. The exhibit will also include the groundbreaking Apple Lisa computer, the iconic Macintosh of 1984, the Newton MessagePad handheld personal digital assistant, and what is believed to be the first Apple product sold in the United Arab Emirates: an Apple II computer from 1979.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apple is the most valuable publicly traded company in the world with a market capitalisation of nearly AED 9 trillion ($2.5 trillion). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cExhibitors and attendees may be at various points on their journey of creating technology that will power the future,\u201d said Grewal. \u201cI hope my collection inspires visitors by providing them historical context, no matter where they may be on their journey to better people\u2019s lives with technology.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AAPL Collection will be displayed in Zabeel Hall 3, Stand Z3-FT1, of the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jimmy Grewal is currently the Executive Director of Elcome International in Dubai. He graduated from Duke University and subsequently worked at Microsoft developing Internet Explorer and Office for Mac. He cultivated his enthusiasm for computers while attending The American School of Dubai from 1982 to 1995.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
